About the CFAR

The collective mission of the twenty one Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) that are currently funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is to enlarge, enhance, and enable scientifically rigorous basic, clinical, translational, and behavioral research in the prevention, care, and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

Individual CFARs accomplish this through the funding and administration of Core facilities that provide  HIV researchers with services, equipment, materials and expertise not otherwise readily obtained  through other NIH funding mechanisms.

More information about the NIH CFAR program and a map showing the location of each currently funded Center is available at http://www.niaid.nih.gov/labsandresources/resources/cfar/Pages/default.aspx
